Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how UPSC AI Notes (“we”, “us”, “our”), which operates the website upscainotes.in (the “Site”), collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use the Site and purchase our digital study tools (the “Products”). We handle personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Who we are
UPSC AI Notes is a digital storefront offering interactive, exam-mapped study tools for civil-services and competitive-exam aspirants. You can reach us any time at upscainotes.in@gmail.com. Full operator details are on our Contact page.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name — to address you and personalise your experience.
- Email address — to verify you with a one-time password (OTP), sign you in, and restore your purchases on any device.
- WhatsApp number (optional) — only if you choose to receive study updates; we send updates only when you tick the consent box (opt out anytime).
- Mobile number (optional) — for order confirmations, and OTP sign-in where SMS is enabled.
- Your preferences — such as whether you opted in to updates.
Information from your purchase
- Payment confirmation — the order ID and payment ID returned by Razorpay so we can verify your payment. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank login — those are handled directly by Razorpay.
- Entitlements — a record of which Products you have unlocked.
Information stored on your own device (browser local storage) — your theme choice, proof-of-purchase access tokens, your sign-in session, and your daily-question streak and practice stats. This stays on your device unless you choose to sync it (below).
Optional progress sync — if you sign in, your streak and quiz stats may be stored on our servers, keyed to your account, so they follow you across devices.
Technical data — like all websites, our infrastructure provider processes standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the Site.
3. How we use your information
- To process and verify payments, and to grant and restore access to Products.
- To verify your email (or mobile) by OTP and reduce fraud and abuse.
- To send study updates only if you opted in (you can opt out any time).
- To maintain your streak and stats if you use those features.
- To provide customer support.
- To comply with tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Legal bases
We process your data to perform our contract with you (delivering and supporting your purchase), with your consent (e.g., updates), to comply with law, and for our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Site.
5. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser’s local storage for the features described above. Please see our Cookie Policy for details. Razorpay may set its own cookies during checkout under its policy.
6. Who we share data with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Site, and only as needed:
- Razorpay Software Private Limited — payment processing.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, content delivery and data storage.
- MSG91 (Walkover Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) — sending OTP/text messages, where SMS verification is enabled.
- Anthropic — where the optional “AI insight” feature is enabled, only the public news headline text is sent to generate a study pointer; no personal data is sent.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the Site.
7. Data security
We use HTTPS, signed access tokens, and reputable infrastructure to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to keep your information safe.
8. Data retention
We keep purchase and contact records for as long as needed to provide access recovery and to meet tax and legal requirements, after which we delete or anonymise them.
9. Content you post publicly
The Site includes a community question board at /ask.html. Anything you post there — including the full name you enter, your question or answer text, and the time you posted — is published publicly. It can be read by anyone, may be indexed by search engines such as Google, and may be copied or archived by third parties beyond our control.
Please do not post anything you would not want publicly associated with your name. Never post phone numbers, email addresses, exam roll numbers, or other personal details — yours or anyone else’s.
You can delete your own question or answer at any time using the Delete control shown on your posts, or by emailing us. Deleting a question also deletes the answers beneath it. We may also remove posts that are reported by other users or that breach our Terms. Copies that search engines or other third parties have already cached are outside our control, though we will assist with removal requests where we reasonably can.
To post, you must be signed in. We store the account identifier of the author alongside each post so that we can enforce our rules and respond to reports; this identifier is never shown to other users or included in any public page or API response.
10. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent for updates, or raise a concern, by emailing upscainotes.in@gmail.com. Clearing your browser storage removes local data from your device (note this may sign you out of purchased tools until you sign in again with an OTP).
11. Children
The Site is intended for users aged 18 and above who are preparing for competitive examinations. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 (and rules) and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, any grievance regarding your personal data may be sent to our Grievance Officer at upscainotes.in@gmail.com. We aim to acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within the timelines prescribed by law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date will change accordingly. Continued use of the Site means you accept the updated policy.
14. Contact
For any privacy request, email upscainotes.in@gmail.com or use our Contact page.
